TARGET AUDIENCE PROFILE

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
In my Viewer Profile below, which I have created in Pages and which I based on NME's reader profile, I give an account of my target viewer's media consumption, leisure interests,  tastes and brand preferences. As films are often cross-promoted in synergistic ways, I wanted to ensure that I knew how my target viewer could be attracted and addressed. For example, he/she would use a smartphone to check our film's Facebook page, see our trailer at cinema screenings for his/her favourite films and catch the latest pictures from our shoots on Instagram.

I made this because I thought these things where the most popular things for teenagers at the moment. I did some research to look at what is popular with teenagers. Things like twitter, Instagram and Facebook are very important and popular within teenagers. I also added things that teenagers and people in the early 20's like to do, this is things like drinking, listening to music, shopping and so on. Some movies I added on here are that are similar to ours, which shows teenagers and young adults will love our movie, and it will appeal to them.

DISTRIBUTION: HUNGER GAMES

Click here to see my Hunger Games slide share.

I made this Slideshare too show how the 'Hunger Games' produced there film in many different ways. I showed how they used Pintrest, You Tube, Websites, Cinema, twitter, distributors of the movie and Facebook.

This is important for my movie because everyone needs distribution too get there movie noticed. Luckily this movie is very popular and has a lot of publicity. Its a big hollywood film, so the distribution costs are aloud to be very high, as the movie has enough money for it too be, this will get it more and more noticed which then gives the movie more money.

I presented this in a Slideshare as this is another way of presenting this information. I think Slideshares are really professional and shows the facts clearly.

PLANNING: TREATMENT

Film Title: 10 Years

AMBERLEIGH ENDORA has been tragically missing for just over 10 years... yet the heartache is still very raw and existing in the lives she made an impact in, with her bedroom untouched and her mother still mourning. PC LUCA EVANS fully involves himself in the never ending unknown identity of Amberleighs misplacement. Resulting in the loss of his job on the police force because of his inquisitive unanswered questions of the crisis , he still takes it upon himself to discover this enigmatic, unresolved mystery... even if this involves taking it too far. After losing everything (his house, family and dignity) and the harsh reality from an old friend on the force PC CONOR HANNAFORD he still pursues the hunt, wanting a answer.

Is there anything that makes Amberleigh different and unordinary?

After much persistant research, PC Luca understands that 10 years on Amberleigh Endora is now living an ordinary life of WINTER JONES, unknown of her pass and the torturous impact she has left in so many peoples lives.

After so long, PC Luca realises his obscure obsession of this case may just crush Winters reality and ordinary lifestyle, should she know or should PC Luca finally realise he should allow Winter to pursue living her normal and comprehensive life.

PLANNING: LOCATION RECCE

This can be used to show the stalker experimenting with D and A. This is a actual science lab which will mean it looks much more realistic. The apparatus shown in this image is also strong and will make the science lab look more creepy and realistic.

I have a picture of this cabinet of body party because i thought it added to looking much more realistic to the science lab. Without the body parts it might not look like a real science lab as much as it does with the added body parts.

I love this because its a child's playground. It can come across as spooky and in some ways sad as child has gone missing. We thought we could use this when we are reflecting back to her childhood.

I really like this window because it looks really spooky and interesting to film with. The shots you get using this could be really clever and affective. The two bars going through the window also make it different to any other window that other entries might have.

PLANNING OUR THRILLER

In our group (Eliza, Harvey and Ellen) we all decided we wanted to work on a thriller. Strait away we  started discussing and realised we wanted to do a movie to do with a stalker. We went along those lines and came up with some stories we could use in the movie.

We thought of the idea of going off a real life story, as we went with Madeline McCann story. Obviously we will alter this idea as we don't want to go off the real story exactly. We then looked at who has suitable things to work with, things like location and people. Harvey has a little sister, so we wanted to use her as she is close to being Madeline's age. We can then go onto showing how the girl has grown up and starts being stalked by an Ex police officer.

In the story we thought of some locations we could shoot at, and what we can work with.
- Pub
- Eliza's Camper Van
- Using Amberleigh (Harvey's sister)
- Turning photos into polaroids
- Growing up

THRILLER AUDIENCE RESEARCH

Research: How brands profile audiences

I started by investigating how brands target audiences in preparation for creating my own audience profile for my AS Foundation Production. I need to plan to reach my target audience. I have looked at the target audience, and to make sure that the film stand out in the competition. I also looked at what audience should watch my film.

The type of film we are making is a thriller so i looked at things surveys and other ways of seeing what the people like who like that type of genre of film. A lot of brands use target market groups to know that what there selling or making will suit who they want to sell too.
Audiences can be segmented and defined by their GEARS
Gender
Ethnicity
Age
Region / nationality
Socio-economic group

I looked at Kiss FM.

This shows that a lot the main target audience of Kiss will be young listeners. From getting this information the Kiss producers will know what they should be talking about and broadcasting. If there was no idea of what to say, they can't match what there saying to the people who there saying it too. This means that the audience might not feel as involved in the chat.

I looked at this because I think the same age range will be the people watching our thriller.

PRELIMINARY

We devise, film and edit a short exercise in film making which OCR asks us to complete prior to our film opening. We watch examples of the exercise such as those undertaken by Claremont students last year and others like this one.
Here is another example. Here is another.
Here is the OCR Specification
We are doing the video brief which includes the preliminary exercise as set out below:

We edited our movies with iMovie, by dragging the scenes into the movie, and editing the scenes by cropping them down to what we want them to be like. We cut off a lot of our scenes because there was talking at the end or beginning. For example when Harvey (our camera man) says 'go' or when someone says 'cut'.   This software allowed us to quickly edit our movies being able to add sound and backgrounds. When Harvey couldn't get a steady hand we used a tripod, which meant we had very steady filming. This makes it much more professional.

LES BLUES DE RAMVILLE - OPENING TITLE

I am analyzing some of my favorite parts of the opening sequence of the seies, Les Blues De Ramville.

I have picked this screen shot because I think its really clever how they have done this. I think its affective because the pieces on the board are moving around, almost like the team are planning there move for the game. This can make the audience feel part of the game and part of the team. This is done by I stop motion. They would have used a birds eye view to look at the paper then taken various shot to make the pieces move.

This is an extreme close up shot, as we can see because you audience is able to see the ice flying off his boots which shows how close up the filming was done. It was also put in slow motion to really see ice. I love how this is done and would want to incorporate it into my filming as it adds a lot of detail and gives it a much higher quality. The name is also positioned very well, so its clear and obvious to the viewer. Its positioned on a black surface so its much easier too see.

Again this is a close up shot of names on a paper. This is clever filming because they have focused on one specific name to draw attention too it. They also blur out the rest of the names so no one can focus on anything else other than the name that the directors wants the audience to focus on. The color scheme is also affecttive as they used quite dark colours, if they where very bright it might have been harder for the audience to focus on a name, whereas they might focus on the colours instead.

This is a very low angle shot. It is below the players who seem to drop a hockey puck onto the lens which then makes the screen black, and allows the directors to make a clean cut to the next part of the sequence. Low angle shots are clever because it really makes you feel part of the action when your watching.

I love this part because they have made it all so slow motion that you can see the liquid and food flying around, which is very affective and clever. The name also appears clearly even though its in the middle of the action. There are also alot of emotions in the image which shows the sheer happiness of some people when there team score, and how much ice hockey means to them. I will be using slow motion with liquids in my work because I think its very clever and add a lot of quality.

WHAT WE DID ON OUR HOLIDAY

What We Did On Our Holiday is a family fun movie. The genre of this movie is a comedy. We can tell it’s a family movie as the jokes are family orientated and also will make a varied range of different ages will enjoy the humour not just a specific age range. . The movie has a national audience. As we can see from the poster the audience will be the type of people who enjoyed outnumbered. Saying this on a poster is useful for the audience because it allows them to know what type of movie this is, and weather they will enjoy it.

The movie has some famous actors starring in it. Therefor this will be good advertisement  for the movie and will mean it will get a lot more publicity. Twitter, and blogs used by actors will be seen by a lot of people and make them want too watch the movie too.

The poster of the movie is very bright and happy. By the happy bright colours the audience will know its a light hearted comedy. The quotes surrounding the movie title also will incise the audience because all of them are good reviews that will make you want to watch the movie more.

PRIDE

Pride is based on a true story, the film is about a group of gay and lesbian's who raised money to help families affected by the UK miners strike in 1984. I grabbed this image off the trailer of the movie because i thought it really stood out and almost represents the whole movie. It is showing a group of mixed gay and lesbians coming together and working together to get what they want to achieve. This shot is called an action shot, as they are all posing with there hands in the air and with smiling open mouths. This can represent happiness and maybe relief.

The colours used all seem to be bright and stand out to the viewer. The red door in the background stands out, which may show the town/ village they are in is lively and loud. The colours of the outfits are all different and mixed. There isn't a colour scheme which could represent how different they each are, but can still pull together and make it work.

This is a uplifting happy movie, and just by this short scene shot I have taken you can see that.

NOWHERE BOY

The movie No Where Boy is an account of John Lennons's first years. The movie focuses mainly in his teenage years and his relationship with his aunt (Mimi). Also his relationship with his mum (Julia) who came back into his life at a important time.

In class we looked at the first part of the movie. We analyzed the camera angles and way the movie is filmed. The first part of the scene is John running through what looks like a monumental building, which is very big and grand. The shot in this scene is very clever because it makes John look small compared to the big building. It makes it look like he is very unnecessary and unimportant standing next to something so big. This could be a metaphor for his career and how his old sent compares nothing to what he grew unto being like. The shot they used is called an establishing shot. The camera follows John running through this building (this is a different type of shot called a tracking shot as its tracking where he goes) until he falls and then cuts to another scene of him waking up in bed. This was a very effective and clever cut.

In this scene his Aunt is waking him up. He is in traditional old school pyjamas which shows us the movie is older. His aunt Mimi is waking him up quite aggressively to get him to school. Even in this first scene we can see she could be presented as quite an angry woman as she is being wrote aggressive towards John even though he just woke up! The shot is filmed above John so you get a birds eye view which is clever, and allows you to be able to see his whole room, and maybe his perspective.

The scene then cuts to when John is having breakfast. His uncle is at the table and hands him a Harmonica. John seems very happy and hugs his uncle, which shows the audience he has a very strong bond with his uncle as they seem very friendly and kind towards each other, which was the opposite of how he was with his aunt Mimi. This scene shows a 2 person shot, where 2 people are in the shot at once.

The opening to No Where Boy includes a lot of camera shots and angles. These are things like tracking shot, shot reverse shot, two person shot, over the shoulder shot and establishing shot. These camera angles make the begging much more interesting and makes the movie have a much better effect.

iSTOP MOTION

This is the Istop motion me and Harvey created. It took us time to make the rocket and letters stick onto the board, as they kept falling off. But in the end it worked out very well and we where both very pleased with the outcome even though it took longer than expected to make.

RESEARCH: THE ART OF THE TITLE

Today I looked at the opening scene of Dexter. I looked at the techniques and film edits they used in the opening scene. We discussed as a class how these film techniques affect the mood of the opening scene. I thought this was a really good opening scene as it was very interesting and made you want too keep watching more and more which is clever for an opening scene of a show. I liked the camera angles and effects they did when filming this. They zoomed in a lot which gave it a mysterious effect, and also made everything relate to the show. They used ketchup to look like blood, and the knife to cut the orange, like its cutting someone, he also uses dental floss which looks effective because it can be made to look like he's trying to strangle someone or kill someone, when really its just him flossing his teeth,. This is very clever and interesting compared to some other openings. I wanted to watch this because I thought it looked really scary and interesting. It looked much better than something else you would normally watch.

The colours are all quite bold and bright, There are not any faded colours or any colours that look faint or boring. There all bright and colourful. This can draw attention to the show.

The genre of this show would be a thriller, or a crime scene show.  Its also a black comedy.
